Layperson Summary:

Teachers seem to be able to limit problem behaviors at school by using many different interventions.

Children with autism may show aggression, self-injury and be unable to follow rules. This article reviewed the published studies on interventions for children with autism spectrum disorder in order to decrease problem behaviors at school. The study found 73% of the time the chosen intervention was said to have worked. The interventions worked whether or not the teacher matched the intervention to the child. Teachers seem to be very able to perform the intervention and to measure results for research studies.
